for Type I, II & III ATA Flash Cards and Hard Disk Cards

Model IIA2

Model IIA3

Note:
1. These readers will not support any non-storage cards, such as modem, ethernet, wireless LAN, SCSI, bluetooth, etc. cards.

2. Model IIA2 can accommodate type I and II ATA or hard disk cards. No driver needed.
Model IIA3 accommodates type I, II & III ATA and hard disk cards. No driver needed.

3. They can also read/write SmartMedia, memorystick, SD/MMC and CF cards with the proper PC card adapters.

4. For use with type I or II compact flash cards & micro drives, please choose Model IIC which has one type II (CF+) slot or buy model IIA with the proper PC card adapter. This model does not work well with Lexar brand compact flash cards.

Features

  • Perfect solution for accessing various flash cards on desktop or book-size PC via IDE/ATAPI interface.
  • Support ATA Flash Card, or any other card adapters via CF or PC Card.
  • Fully compatible with ATAPI removable/re-writable media interface and PIO mode 4.
  • Some (not all) PCs can boot directly from this drive just like booting from hard disk drive. (See note below.)
  • Card can be inserted/extracted dynamically without shutting down the system.
  • Provides front panel fits both 3.5" and 5.25" (mounting bracket required) desktop drive bay.
  • Active LED indicator of Access (Read/Write).
  • Adopt native driver provided by Windows 98/98SE/Me/NT 4.0+SP6 /2000 & XP.
Data transfer rate:
Theoretically, the data transfer rate of IDE bus is 16.6 MB/SEC. However, the real data transfer rate is lower because of the limitation of flash memory card.
Is the drive bootable?
Some computers (not all) can simply select "Boot from ZIP" option available from BIOS setup. The device support only one drive letter like Zip drive. You can't make the drive as C:. Manufacturer does not claim all computers can boot from this drive and they will not support this function!
Does it run under plain DOS (not under DOS-box in Windows)?
No. The device is an ATAPI device and requires device driver to operate. There is no plan to develop DOS driver for it at this moment.
